Being Cyrus

Only few movies will leave a long lasting impression and this is definitely one. Sometimes I like watching colorful Telugu movies and sometimes watching serious Malayalam movies depending upon the mood. This is a movie to be watched when you are feeling that you are little weird and different from others. Go and watch the movie alone not with your friends or loved ones.

This doesn't come under the category of thriller or comedy or sci-fi or romantic, it’s all about a Parsi family and a character called Cyrus who enters as a stranger to the family and how he changes their life. Its all about people, their feeling, their longings etc etc. Gosh, the climax was absolutely a thriller. I have never expected such an ending.

Saif is a big surprise package in this. I adore him for his cool attitude and for his dress sense (Style icon). From ‘ole..ole…’ to ‘What to do yar I am confused….’ In Dil Chahata hai.. to ‘Anyway… how normal people are’ in Being Cyrus he has come a long way. I didn’t expect a serious and matured performance from him when I entered the movie hall. He was BRILLIENT.

And Mr. Naseruddin Shah and Dimple, wow, lovely performances. They play the Parsi couple who are totally different from each other. Just the way they communicate with each other will give a clear picture about their life (I don't know whether that can be called as life as well may be you can call it as their existence in the same house).

And Boman Irani and his beautiful young wife Simon- I don't want to break the secret if you are planning to watch the movie. The guy who plays as 'Inspector Lovely' comes for a short time in the movie and you will be laughing your heart out in all the scenes. The scene where he enquires Dimple and Shah is too good. And the Director Homi Adajania is new and someone to be congratulated for the brilliant direction.

Watch the movie, you will definitely find it interesting.

Crash

I went for Crash last weekend, and the movie was brilliant. I could say that movie was the only one good thing happened to me during the weekend. The movie made me to feel good. I can't say that the movie has changed the way I think but it has left an impression that everybody you meet will have a good side or atleast that is the best thought to start with.

I liked that brilliant dialog which defines the name of the movie: 'It's the sense of touch. In any real city, you walk, you know? You brush past people, people bump into you. In L.A., nobody touches you. We're always behind this metal and glass. I think we miss that touch so much, that we crash into each other, just so we can feel something.'

And one more which Sandra (She was brilliant) tells her husband: 'I am angry all the time... and I don't know why.'. I just felt that was coming from my mouth. :)

I have found the following review which I read it in a blog interesting.

The movie is a set of stories, some unrelated to the other, about how racism exists in society. And it shows that everyone – no matter how bad they may appear -- has a good side too.

For example, Matt Dillon (in a brilliant performance, well worth his Oscar nomination), plays a racist cop who intercepts a coloured couple and molests the wife (Thandie Newton) in front of her husband (Terrance Howard).

Later, when she’s fighting death in a car crash, Dillon comes to her rescue. When she sees him, Newton actually prefers death to being saved by him. In a very touching scene, Dillon determinedly gets her out of the car, putting his own life in danger.

The way director Paul Haggis introduces his characters is unusual. You would not give the Hispanic locksmith (Michael Pena) in Sandra Bullock’s home another look after she rants and raves about how he might circulate the house keys to his ‘amigos,’ and rob her home. But he has a story to tell as well.

His world is ruled by his five-year-old daughter, who he’s so afraid of losing.

Then one day, he is almost shattered when an Iranian storekeeper – who blames Pena for losing everything he’s ever worked for – opens fires on him, and his daughter gets caught in the crossfire.

Dillion’s cop partner (Ryan Phillippe) may not jump out of the screen in his first scene. But Haggis develops his character beautifully, and we applaud Phillippe when he changes his partner at the risk of demeaning himself.

But Crash has no villains. Only real people. You would not hate the Iranian storekeeper for shooting at the child. Instead, you would really feel for the man, whose store has been ransacked, and the insurance will not cover it.

You would not hate Dillion for molesting the woman. You would feel sorry for him and his old father, who cannot get relief or treatment from prostrate cancer, thanks to a bureaucratic Black woman.

And even though Phillippe appears so moralistic, he is really not perfect at all.

Hero

He didn't spend many years in school
Because his father couldn't afford it for more than 3 years,

He didn't have time to play with his friends
Because he was very busy earning for his
bread and butter from the age of 8 or 9,

He didn't enjoy the joy of loving a girl
Because he was very busy taking care of his
whole family in his teenage,

There were times when he has to walk for miles
together as he couldn't afford to pay for any
other means of commutation,

There were times he has been criticized by
everybody for some of the decisions he took,

There were times when he has been deserted by all his
close relatives and friends,

There were times when he has been very ill
without any hope for tomorrow,

He never once gave up,

He never once lost control in his life,

He never once cursed the people, who ditched him,

He never once cheated anybody for anything in his life,

I have heard many stories about heroes like Alexander to Achilles,
Form Shivaji to Bhagat Singh,

But for me, my father is the hero, a real HERO.
